Mornings and Evening

I just found this great blog titled: 3191. It is two friends that live 3191 miles apart: one in Portland, OR the other Portland, ME. Photography and Tea

I am trying to get the cow to be a tourist in his own city. Today I talked him into going to a Photography exhibit and Tao of Tea. I had read about Newspace Center for Photography opening in the SE of Portland. I wanted to go because there was an exhibit by Hiroshi Watanabe named Ideology in Paradise with photographs from North Korea.

After the exhibit we went to Tao of Tea on SE Belmont (near HoY). Had a spot of tea and an Indian crumpet, relaxed and listened to the soothing waterfall. Make sure you click on the Tao of Tea link - there are some beautiful photos of lotus blossoms being harvested.

Burdigala- What a gala?

Burdigala is a wine store about 5 blocks from our house. It is owned by a French guy named Dideret (spelling?). On Friday nights it is the place to be and gets super packed between 6 and 9 because the guy offers about 10 wines to taste.

We stumbled in last night and found Bon Vivants distributors tasting organic and biodynamic wines from France. We tried Domaine d la Bregeonnette: Muscadet, Chateau La Grolet: Bourg, Clos de l'Anhel: Corbieres and a Domaine Pierre Andre: Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

We marched down to Gino's for dinner and felt all warm and French inside.

Everything is better at the BOTTOM!

Sunday afternoon outing to Oaks Bottom Pub- hence the motto, "everything is better at the bottom!"

We decided that bloody Mary's, Beer and Totchos sounded good. Walking down to the pub for a Sunday afternoon stroll made me feel less guilty about the indulgence ahead. Too bad my stomach did not think so afterwards.

New Year's Eve 2007

The gang headed to lovely Northern California for a little R&R this year. We met in Oakland and zoomed off to Sonoma for a couple of days of wine tasting. We stopped at Roche and Cline before heading off to the city of Sonoma where we stayed just off the plaza at The Cottage Inn.

After laying low for a couple of days the sun came out and we moved ourselves to the city by the bay. It was beautiful-check out those blue skies. We ended up at Rogue brewery for lunch right next door to North Beach and every Italian fantasy you could have with food. Our days were spent walking or as everyone likes to call it "marching."

New Year's Eve we got dressed up and went to Cow Hollow/Union Street for dinner at Terzo. The evening actually ended rather quietly as we all headed back around 2:00am.
