Baraka

Thursday nights seem to have turned into dining out night. Most Thursdays are packed full of places to hear music, see art or just people watch. The cow and I had the best intentions Thursday, we planned to head over to Mississippi and listen to the Christmas Music (this is not your grandmothers Christmas music) they were offering. We ended up doing some shopping at Target and ended up on Alberta (close to Mississippi). There is a newer restaurant called Baraka we wanted to try. We walked in and the place was packed. Luckily there was one table available away from the busy door so we grabbed it. We ordered a couple of killer cocktails (they were more liquor concotions - strong and yummy) and decided on the chickpea, carrot, creminis, spinach brown rice curry bowl. It did not disappoint...it was delicious. About 20 minutes into our meal a band started to play tradition/flamenco-ish Brazilian music. The lead singer was this funky dressed NW White chick but MAN could she belt out the Portugese ballad. When the band took a break it became stand up poetry night. There were a couple of really good people. One guys his name was Majestic and this other geeky looking guy with really big glasses and shoes but he was equally confident and message filled.
Our evening ended at Pix-NE. That is a different blog....stay tuned.
